Houston Hurrican Evacuees

I know it has been a long time since I have written anything.........I just lead a very active life. Right before the hurricane that was supposed to hit Houston, I received a phone call from a fellow from Florida, a fellow "Servas" member. We are in a travel club that you have to pay to be in, however, the people are well screened and the good will ambassador types. Joe and I have traveled and stayed with several people we don't know but become friends with by staying a day or two in their home. What a joy that is!
Anyway, the man, Bill, said his kids lived in Houston and wanted to flee the hurricane....could we possible host them? I said we sure could. The next day, Martin and Tess, their two children Adrian and Veronica and Papa showed up. It was just a delight to host them. They were the perfect guests. They were so helpful around here. We had lots of time together, but they also "toured" Dallas as well. It was a great relief when Rita didn't hit Houston. They decided to stay a couple of extra days and tour Dallas. We were also able to have lunch and dinner together a couple of times. Tess and I hit it off.........we ended up making bracelets together and shopping for more beads. They kids had a pretty good time. I took them swimming at my friend's homes (they are the best!). Martin and Tess sure appreciated the hospitality. My mom helped by bringing over a great dish one evening. It was really fun seeing everyone chip in and help.
When they left, I couldn't be here. My house was spotless when I came home. Oh, to have guests like that. We have emailed and talked by phone since they got back. Isn't it interesting the appointments we can have in life? I am so grateful I say yes to my friend, Bill. I look forward to Bill coming here one day with his wife and stay a day or two.

Good grief, I should never write at night. I am making mistakes and cannot even find how to edit my spelling. Sorry, "Joe" for not spelling your name right. I really can spell, but not near midnight. Ha
I had almost given up on your blog...
That was very cool that you and "Joe" were able to take those people in.
Try to keep updating.
